Dr. Aisling Ní Annaidh is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Design in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at UCD. After graduating with a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering in 2007, Aisling spent time at Rice University, Texas and Université Sorbonne, Paris working in the area of Biomechanics. Upon obtaining her PhD from UCD and Université Sorbonne in 2012, Dr. Ní Annaidh worked for a leading multinational medical devices firm.
She joined UCD in 2014 and currently leads the Tissue Biomechanics group at UCD, with current projects focussed on machine learning applications in biomechanics, soft tissue biomechanics, and medical device design and optimisation. She is Director of Research in her School and a Funded Investigator in two Science Foundation Ireland Centres: I-FORM research centre for advanced manufacturing and the Research Training Centre in foundations of data science. She is also a member of the Royal Irish Academy Engineering and Computer Science multidisciplinary committee. She has previously Co-coordinated the MSCA Innovative Training Network, HEADS (Head Protection: A European Training Network for Advanced for Advanced Designs in Safety).
